Celebrimbor study room

This illustration is the final design I made for the private study room of the elven-smith Celebrimbor, for the TV show 'The Rings of Power'. I am showing here the 3D model that I used for the illustration. I don't like to get driven by complex renders with detailed textures or lighting layouts. I just prefer a simple model with simple geometry that I can use as base for the painting. I like to control the lighting of the scene myself. The well rendered 3D model can give a very precise image, but I like to imagine myself how the light works, creating a less accurate result, but much more personal and theatrical.

I had the pleasure to work for almost 2 years in the art department of 'The Rings of Power' with production designer Ramsey Avery. Five months of that time was onsite with an amazing art team in Auckland, New Zealand.
