Durin IV chamber

The concept shows Elrond visiting Durin and Disa in Kazhad Dûm. This kind of illustrations are specially challenging because they have to be descriptive in order to be useful to build the set, but also it had to show an specific part of the story. The view angle in #1 shows Elrond framed by the elven tree in the background. Durin is sitting framed by the two tall angular chairs backlit by the fire behind.
This set was developed with set designers Daniel Jennings and Gordon Stotz.

I had the pleasure to work for almost 2 years in the art department of 'The Rings of Power' with production designer Ramsey Avery. Five months of that time was onsite with an amazing art team in Auckland, New Zealand.
